I use a signature guide and I sign my full first and last name

Post 3 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 17-Jul-2008 11:51:10

I sign first last and middle initial. I always loose signature guides, so I use a straight edge and have someone place the card where the document needs to be signed.

I sign with the initials of my fore and surnames. No signature stamp required. Looks more like a childish unformed scribble but its good enough for the here and now.

I sign my first and last names. If its with my mom she'll put her finger at the beginning at the line, and I go from their. I've learned to write small, so most of the time, i'm good about not going to high.

I use a signature guide, or a straight edge, whichever is handy. I just ask the person presenting the paper to line things up for me. Oh, and I sign my first and last name. If initials are all that's required, then I'll just free-hand it without the signature guide or straight edge.

Post 7 by moonspun (This site is so "educational") on Saturday, 19-Jul-2008 19:22:59

I get someone to put a finger on the beginning of the line, then just free hand my initials and surname. I can usually keep it pretty straight, and signing all those medical notes now means that I can sign really quickly!

Post 8 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Saturday, 19-Jul-2008 19:46:03

I use a signature guide if I have one. Otherwise, I ask someone to place my finger at the beginning of where I need to sign. And I sign my first name and last initial.

I use a signature guide or straight edge. Unfortunately, my surname is kind of long. If I'm really in a hurry, I'll have whoever's with me sign, like if it's one of those debit card machines whith the little pen. Those suck!

Post 10 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Tuesday, 22-Jul-2008 12:58:05

I always have asignature guide with me. My first and last names are pretty ledgible when I write them, but I still need to work on writing the letter k corectly.

Ok, this is going to sound a little weird. Can anyone describe how to write a g. I can sign my first name using a signature guide, but have broblems writing my last name. Thanks

Post 12 by soaring eagle (flying high again!) on Wednesday, 13-Aug-2008 13:06:47

I use a guide when possible. I only know how to do it in cursive print. its readable unless I have to sign a lot. A thought about feeling the print letters, I learned some by playing with magnetic letters that my brothers and sister had, I can write each one if I need to. Hope that helps.

Hi, all. I sign with my first and last name in cursive. I do use a signature stamp, simply because I find it easiest. But if I don't have my stamp, I can write just fine. I was the one that signed for them to make that stamp off of. Signature guides are good, too, but like someone else on here said, I think I might lose them.

Post 15 by rat (star trek rules!) on Thursday, 21-Aug-2008 4:03:21

i usually sing my first name, that's about all i can manage. as for keeping straight it veries on what i'm signing really

Post 16 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 13-Sep-2008 11:51:32

I carry my signature guide in my purse in case I need it. I get someone to put the signature guide where I need to sign or put a finger where I need to start signing and I write my first and last names in full. My handwriting didn't used to be very good, but apparently more people can read it better now.

Post 17 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 22:25:22

OK, dumb question. I am used to writing with the kind of signature guide that has individual blocks for individual letters, but I don't believe they make those anymore. For all who are totally blind, how do you do with spacing your letters?Meaning, how do you keep your letter from being jumbled? Sorry for the silly question. I just have never used a signature guide with out little rectangles. I do want to learn how to write my full first name. I do my first innicial and last name.

Post 18 by SEPTEMBER-TWILIGHT (CAN I TALK? PLEASE?) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2008 23:57:21

lol, i personally dont like signature guides. they're too much of a pain for me. i usually just sign my first name and last, or when i'm in a hurry, just my first. and i write in cursive letters, even though i'm fine with printing letters. a little tip, i really think that writing in cursive for blind people is the best way. because, it helps you stay really steady and it wont make you lose your place and confuse you.

A signature stamp? I haven't heard of one of those, is it legal and safe? I mean couldn't anyone get their hand on that thing and sign your name to their hearts content? Though, it sure would be convenient.

I try to use my signature guide. I'm not that great at signing my name. I need to practice!

Has anyone used a check writing guide? Those things are pretty cool!

Post 20 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 13:25:33

First, yes, a signature stamp is legal. Business people use them quite a bit, and I've signed government paperwork with mine, and no one has ever had a problem. The only time I can't use it is when I have to sign one of those little computerized signature pads, but I know how to sign my first and last name in cursive, so it's no big deal.

And yes, if you weren't careful with your stamp, someone could probably get their hands on it and use it. I'm always careful to know where it is. That, and if my purse ever got lost or stolen, the first thing I'd do is call my bank and anyone else important, to close out my credit cards and other accounts. So no matter what someone tried to do with my stamp, they really couldn't charge anything anywhere.

I've never seen a signature guide with individual rectangles for each letter. That's kind of cool. As someone else said, signing in cursive does help you to not jumble your letters together. Faithful Angel, is there someone you know and trust who could work with you to learn to sign your name better, without that type of signature guide?

Post 21 by faithful angel (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 20-Nov-2008 22:53:00

Yeah, there is. I just need to learn to do it. I know I could. I'm just concerned about making my letters uneven and making my signature look sloppy.

Post 22 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 22-Nov-2008 16:26:21

I know, and it's a genuine concern to have. But the only thing that will help that problem is practice. *Smile*

I use a signature guide and have whoever I'm with put it where I need to sign. I just do my initials. I tell the person I have to give the paper back to that I am signing with my initials, and they're fine with it. That person'll know it's me. As for the g...I know this one's a few months back, but hope it helps...imagine a Braille cell. This is how I was taught my initials. It'll make sense when u start doing it. First, u will start at dot four. Then, u go to dot 1, then go down to dot 2, then down to dot 3, across to the right to dot 6, to the left to dot 5, then halfway but not all the way, just do a little stroke of the pen, and you've got a g! I know it sounds totally complicated, but remember what Braille looks like, and it can be done. My last name starts with a g, so that's how I know this!

Post 24 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Friday, 19-Dec-2008 20:46:06

Yes, I was also taught to write by thinking of a braille cell. Is it really easier to write in script?? When learning to write in script, could you also imagine a braille cell? How would you teach someone to write script? Is it weird that I don't know how to write the entire alphabet? Just my first and last name. How do you learn to write numbers?

Post 25 by MDN1988 (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 09-Jan-2009 23:15:40

I learned the Braille cell method for signing my name also. I sign in cursive with my first and last name. I usually use my signature stamp to sign, but when I didn't bring it with me or don't have time to dig it out of my purse I just sign it, and the a sighted person helps me by using a straight edge or putting their finger at the beginning of the line.

Post 26 by Miss Gorgeous (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 16-Jan-2009 22:19:31

I just sign papers thats all. I write in cursive, but I know its easier for me because I can still see a bit. Okay, this is a tip, if you want to make sure that you are signing inside the lines, before you write, put your finger on the paper at the very left above the line that your suppose to write on. Follow your hand, make it as a guide, sign by your full name, or initials, and just a reminder, make sure that you read the whole document first before signing it or make someone read it for you. I hope this helps.

Post 27 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Saturday, 17-Jan-2009 21:33:34

I usually have the person show me where the line is, and i try to be straight a spossible. I never the got the cursive thing down: it was too confusing.

Post 28 by tyger_lillee84 (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Thursday, 29-Jan-2009 14:58:19

Where can you get a signature stamp? I'd like to have one, as it would make signing papers a whole lot easier.

Post 29 by voiceofjoy (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 01-Feb-2009 6:34:56

I find this really cool! I use a stamp, but it would be fun to finaly manage writing my lastname too. when i created my signature stamp, i wrote my firstname on my own, then my mother held my hand on my last name. I write my firstname without lifting my pen from the paper, and that is the way i'd like to write my lastname too. i believe i can do it. did you guys learn how to write the cursive letters by starting off with biggrer letters? I know the whole alfabeth by playing with the printed alfabeth in a maths book i had in the 6th grade. heh acording to my dad, my handwriting was better than my brothers for a while *laughing*
What i do now, to secure my signing, is signing with the stamp + writing my initials on the same line by hand.

greetings from voice of joy.

I use the signature guide, and I sign my first name, or at least my english first name, in cursive.
